Preseason Thunder
Posted on: January 8, 2012
Get ready race fans, Preseason Thunder is almost underway at Daytona. That’s right, the holidays are behind us, school has started back, and we’re in a new year preparing for the start of the 2012 Sprint Cup season. When the engines start and the cars make their way onto the Daytona racing surface January 12th through 14th, it marks the unofficial start of racing action for 2012.
The annual three-day NASCAR Sprint Cup Series test session at Daytona is in advance of the final preparations that are also being made for the 2012 Speedweeks, in particular, the running of the 54th annual Daytona 500.
The preparations and testing include the adjustments necessary for the rules package changes that have come about as a result of information gathered during recent tests at Talladega and Daytona in 2011. Some of the rule changes include a smaller radiator, smaller overflow tank, softer springs, smaller spoiler, and also changes to the restrictor plate.
Phoenix Racing will be ready for action when the green flag drops to mark the start of the 2012 season in Daytona. We look forward to seeing our fans and sponsors in 2012!
